Fit Testing

Qualitative Respirator Fit Testing

Getting properly fitted for a respirator mask is essential for the safety of people working in an area where possible contamination is possible – labs, isolation rooms, hospitals and care homes.  WorkSafe BC requires annual fit testing to ensure that tight-fitting respirators have a proper seal and fit correctly to ensure you have the respiratory protection the mask is designed to provide.

Qualitative fit testing is a pass/fail test method.  The participant’s sense of taste or smell is used to detect leakage into the respirator face piece when a test agent is introduced into the test hood. Qualitative fit testing does not provide a numerical value of the leakage.  The passes or fails is based simply on being able to detecting leakage of the test substance into your face piece while performing prescribed exercises.  This 15 minutes test can be conducted with the masks used on the worksite or we provide a selection of masks to ensure the best possible fit.

We are able to offer you a complete onsite fit testing program. We are fully mobile with qualified technicians available to come to your worksite or facility thereby minimizing your downtime.
