The WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid Level III course is a 70 hour program designed for remote worksites or employers with large workforces more than 20 minutes from medical aid. Initial certification requires full participation and course attendance. Successful candidates must achieve a minimum of 70% on the written exam. Exams are conducted through out the class. Certification is valid for three years.
Course Curriculum
- Basic Life Support & CPR “A”
- Patient assessment
- Critical airway & respiratory, interventions with C-Spine management, including insertion of oral airways, use of oxygen therapy equipment and bag valve mask, pulse oximeter
- Circulatory interventions and management
- Small wound, soft tissue, tourniquet and Zap Strap use and fracture management
- Scoop “Clamshell” Stretcher use
- Rapid transport criteria
- Suction
Course Prerequisites
Must be at least 16 years of age and be physically able to perform all of the First Aid tasks required to complete the learning tasks. A Statement of Fitness, as well as acceptable personal identification is required prior to Occupational First Aid Attendant certification. No experience is necessary.
*Please Note: Cannot be designated primary first aid until the age of 18.
